• Distillery Notes: Named for its combination of 47 botanicals and 47% alcohol, Monkey 47 is crafted in the Black Forest using soft spring water and a bold botanical lineup. A third of its botanicals are local to the Schwarzwald — including lingonberries, spruce, bramble leaves — giving it a distinct forest character. The brand’s legend traces to Wing Commander Montgomery “Monty” Collins, who in the 1950s managed a guesthouse (“The Wild Monkey”) in the Black Forest and served his own gin. In 2006, Alexander Stein resurrected the concept, partnering with master distillers to revive the traditional spirit and expand it into a premium, globally beloved gin.
